Another Great Day!

Word Wall quiz is tomorrow. Tomorrow is the last day for the Easter Basket raffle. If you want to buy tickets please bring your money (1 ticket for $1.00 and 3 tickets for $2.00).


Stations of the Cross will be presented tomorrow by Madame Helbecque’s Grade 6 class. You are more than welcome to join us in the gym at 12:45.


Today during language the students wrote bumped up sentences using their word wall words and then wrote their endings to their narratives. We are going to share the narratives tomorrow.


During Math the students practiced making symmetrical pictures using pattern blocks and designs on a grid.


Last block the class worked in the pic collage app on the mini IPADS and labelled their angle pictures that they took yesterday.


Share with Mom or Dad what is in Benjamin’s treasure box now and what does he symbol remind him of.

Great Day

Don’t forget to bring your money for the Easter Basket Raffle.

Today during Math the students completed an independent assessment on money. If you have time please complete these questions tonight:

1. 6X6=     2. 36÷6

3. Mary has 35 jellybeans. She shares them with a few friends. Each friend gets 5 jellybeans. How many friends did Mary share her jellybeans with?

4. Susan bought 3 boxes of crayons and each box of crayons has 8 crayons in it. Tom bought 2 boxes of crayons and each box of crayons has 9 crayons in it. How many more crayons does Susan have than Tom?

During language today the students worked independently on their narratives. They finished writing the events section of their narrative. Please share with Mom or Dad what your events are.

During last block the students used the mini IPADs with a partner and took pictures of things in the school that have right angles and angles that are smaller or bigger than a right angle.

Great Day!

We are selling tickets for an Easter Basket Raffle filled with loads of Easter treats. This is to support our Lenten project. Tickets are 1 for $1.00 and 3 for $2.00.

Here are this week’s word wall words:  Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. The word wall quiz will be on Thursday this week.

There will be no writing homework this week. Please continue with Raz Reading and Dreambox Math for homework.

During language the students began writing their own narratives. Today they worked on their beginning. Tell Mom or Dad what your narrative is about(who are characters, what is the setting, what is the problem?)

In math the students used their right angle finder and looked around our class for things that had a right angle and things that were smaller and bigger than a right angle. Use your right angle finder to look around your house and find right angles and bigger/smaller than right angles. If you have time please complete these questions tonight:

1. 24 ÷ 2 =       2. 20 ÷ 5 =       3. 36 ÷ 4 =    4. ____ + 13 = 5 X 5

Last block during Religion we read the first few pages of a book called Benjamin’s Box. Share with Mom or Dad what the story is about so far and what Benjamin has collected so far in his treasure box and what these items remind Benjamin of.

Super Day

Bring in a loonie/toonie for Flower Power Day to support our Lenten project.

Tomorrow there is a word wall quiz. Tomorrow is library day. Please bring back your library book. Today during math the students sorted some regular and irregular polygons according to different properties. We also practiced division facts.Tell Mom or Dad what the division sign means.  Try these questions tonight:

1. 14 ÷ 2 =         2. 21 ÷ 3 =         3. 12 ÷ 4 =     4.  24 ÷ 8 =

5. Sort the shapes above at least 3 different ways (you can not sort them straight sides/curved sides as we did this in class today).Tell Mom or Dad your sorting rule.

During language today the students worked on the middle of their narratives with their partners. Tomorrow they will finish their narratives and then read them to the class. We can’t wait to hear your exciting narrative.

Great Day

Friday is Flower Power Day for San Jose Las Flores. Bring in a loonie or toonie on Friday to support San Jose Las Flores and wear your flower outfits.

Today during Language the students wrote bumped up sentences using this week’s word wall words. The class also worked with a partner and began writing the beginning of a narrative. Tell Mom or Dad what the beginning of your narrative is (share the story starter, the characters, setting, and problem).

In Math the class completed an independent multiplication assessment. If you have time try these 3 questions tonight:

1. Mary has 4 boxes of crayons and each box has 8 crayons. How many crayons does Mary have?

2. Tom bought 6 cartons of juice boxes. All together Tom has 36 juice boxes? How many juice boxes are in each carton?

3. 24+39= 50+ ?
